Snook Charters
Tampa Bay Snook Charters
We have a fantastic Snook fishery here in Tampa Bay and therfore have some fantastic
snook charters all over
Tampa Bay. Large or small, a Snook will test any light tackle you bring to the plate. So there’s no wonder why Snook are one of the most highly sought after game fish in our inshore waters. Another added bonus about Snook is the fact

that they’re one of the best tasting fish in a category that can’t be compared to any other.
Snook can be caught almost year round and are one of the premier fish we target for our charter clients. While there are only five months of the year that we can harvest Snook, the catch and release action during the summer when the season is closed can be outstanding. The excitement of throwing out a hand full of live bait for chum and seeing the water erupt in a feeding frenzy can get your heart pumping.
The main reason why Snook fishing is so good during the summer is because it’s the time of year that they spawn and are schooled up in large numbers. We also offer night fishing charters which is an excellent time to fish for Snook since they are night time predators. Fishing for Snook at night is also the best time to catch a really big trophy sized fish which could be over 40 inches and weight 20 or more pounds. This is the best time to target these larger female Snook while their fat and full of eggs.
Snook season is open from March 1st to April 30
th during the spring, and again in the fall from September 1
st to November 30
th. The daily bag limit is 1 Snook per person per day with a slot limit of 28 to 33 inches. We have a long list of clients that charter with us time and time again every season for shots at either a trophy, some tasty fillets or just for some fantastic catch and release action.
However all good things do come to an end at some point. During the mid winter months when the water temperature is in the low 60’s to mid 50’s the Snook fishing comes to a halt. Of course weather patterns are different each year, so this will usually only last about a month or two at the most. As soon as things warm back up though, the Snook are hungry and ready to chew.

There are many different ways Snook can be caught, and fishing with live bait is the number one choice for many anglers. Some of the top baits are Scaled Sardines, Threadfin Herring, Lady Fish, Mullet and Pin Fish. Snook can also be caught with a wide variety of artificial lures. Just about every saltwater lure designed for inshore fishing can be used to catch Snook. There are even some popular freshwater bass lures that will work as well.
Florida is the only state in North America where people can go to catch Snook. The Tampa Bay area is about as far north as it gets when it comes to good quality Snook fishing. It’s no wonder why Snook is the most targeted species in the Tampa Bay area. We fish for snook in Tampa Bay, Clearwater, St Pete, Dunedin and the surrounding areas. Once you’ve been bitten by the Snook bug it’s hard to find a cure.
